Basically Irritable Bowel Syndrome is a disorder that affects the stomach and the intestines. It is also considered to be a common disorder affecting millions of people in the US. Although there are no treatments yet for IBS but there are methods of controlling its symptoms. Here are some of the ways of how you can control IBS:

• It is very important that you consult your doctor or your dietitian before you try experimenting with various IBS treatments. This way you will know whether the treatment fits you or not. If you are considering changing your diet still try to get the advice of your doctor. Self-medication is a no-no since it may do you more harm than good.

• Peppermint was found out to control symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome. The used of peppermint to relieve stomach pain has been handed down through generations and now used to control symptoms of IBS. However, it should be noted that different people reacts differently to things which is in this case peppermint. It may sooth IBS symptoms of others but may not work for some.

• Changing your diet may also help in controlling IBS symptoms. Most of the animal products such as milk, meat and cheese are hard to digest and often triggers IBS symptoms. So avoid eating them. It would also help if you can keep a food diary in where you can keep a record of the food that triggers symptoms of IBS in you. This way you will be guided on the food that you have to avoid.

• Relax your mind. Stress was also found out to cause IBS flare-ups. If you are one of those IBS patients that is experiencing too much stress then it’s high time that you set an appointment with your psychiatrist for a hypnosis session. This is because hypnosis was found out to lessen stress. However make sure that you choose a reputable psychiatrist just to be on the safe side. Another stress relieving method is acupuncture. It lowers down stress level and therefore helping in controlling IBS symptoms.

• Gas is one factor that causes much pain for most IBS patients. Avoiding food that cause gassiness also helps in avoiding IBS flare-ups. Cut down your intake of cabbage, some beans, broccoli and other foods that worsen IBS symptoms.

• Enema of water is growing in popularity among IBS patients. In fact a great number of IBS patients are now relying on weekly enema of water to help in controlling their IBS systems. Again this may work for some but not for all. You may consult your doctor if it suits you or not. It is very important that you get your doctor’s advice before trying any IBS treatment. This way you will be properly guided on the treatment that you need plus you also get to avoid worsening your condition.

• The fight to control your IBS symptoms is a never-ending process. You should always try to research on the various treatments available for you. But don’t forget to consult your doctor always since any treatment will have an adverse effect on your medical condition and also on your personal life. If you can join an IBS support group in your area then so much the better. You will feel more relax knowing that you are not alone having such problem. This may actually help you in controlling stress that often leads to IBS flare-ups.

‘Sensitive skin care’ is governed by a few basic rules.
“If it can be done naturally, why go for artificial means” – this is the basic premise on which ‘organic skin care’ works. Organic skin care is the most natural way of ‘skin care’. In fact, ‘organic skin care’ was probably the first one to be used by man when it first woke-up to the needs of his skin.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is the most common gastrointestinal condition, it affects an estimated 15% of the population. Symptoms usually include abdominal pain, wind, bloating and altered bowel habits. Many people have diarrhea, others constipation, and some suffer from a combination of both. Most people do not realize that relief can come from their diet. Fortunately, there are certain foods that people with IBS can avoid. Also, there are foods that make IBS bearable!

Tip 1 – Prune juice is a well know laxative. You can juice plums (used to make prune juice). Apple, parsley, pear and radish juices stimulate intestinal motion.

Tip 2 – Drinking 6 to 8 glasses of plain water a day is very important, especially if you have diarrhea. But if you drink carbonated beverages, such as sodas, it can result in gas and cause discomfort. Gum chewing and eating too quickly can lead to swallowing air, which also leads to gas.

Tip 3 – Eating fiber rich foods can help control IBS symptoms; however, it should be introduced little by little so your body can learn how to proccess it.

Tip4 – Keep a journal. Keeping a journal can help to keep track of foods that you should avoid. Some of the common foods to avoid include most dairy products, which can cause Irritable Bowel Syndrome symptoms.

AVOID These:

* Fatty and fried foods * Foods and drinks containing artificial sweeteners and sugar substitutes * Gas-producing vegetables * Alcohol * Caffeine * Dairy products, if you suffer from lactose intolerance

EAT These:

* Fresh fruits and vegetables. * Beans like kidney beans and lima beans. * Whole-grain breads and cereals.

Does IBS Cause Anxiety? 8 Tips for Anxiety Relief

Anyone with Irritable Bowel Syndrome knows that IBS causes anxiety. Not knowing when bowel symptoms will strike is enough to make the calmest person feel stress and anxiety.

Apart from being unpredictable, IBS symptoms may cause you anxiety in a couple of other ways:

- Chronic diarrhea is dehydrating, and your body reacts to dehydration as a threat to your survival because humans need water. Not having enough is a stress that makes you anxious, depressed and tired. It’s not a psychological problem; it’s a signal from your brain and body that you’re in danger.

- Chronic constipation is another stress that can make you anxious because of the build-up of toxins in the intestines. When your body is holding onto toxins, it can also react with headaches and nausea.

- In my experience, people with digestive disorders are often sensitive to chemicals and scents in common household and personal care products. Some chemicals are neurotoxins which means they disrupt the way signals are sent between your brain and your body. This is another cause of anxiety.

- When you are awake at night because of pain or several trips to the bathroom, you’re not getting the sleep you need. Sleep deprivation is a source of stress and anxiety for people with IBS and for millions of others.

- When you’re stressed by symptoms, anxiety can cause your mind to go blank. This can cause problems with work, school, or in any part of your life where you need mental concentration, which brings on yet more anxiety. It’s a vicious circle.

So what can you do about it?

When you’re feeling anxious because IBS is ruining your day yet again, here are some tips for natural anxiety relief:

1. A study at the University of Miami School of Nursing showed that taking an essence solution for anxiety had a comparable effect to pharmaceutical drugs but with no side effects.

What’s an “essence solution”? It’s a plant- or gemstone-based liquid that rebalances your nervous system for a calming effect. Two good ones are ETS+ by Perelandra Ltd and Rescue Remedy by Bach Flower Essences.

2. With two fingers, firmly hold these acupressure points for one to two minutes:

- Heart 7: Find the crease of your wrist at the base of your palm. Imagine drawing a line straight down your palm from your little finger to that wrist crease. Hold the point where that line would meet the crease. Good for fear, nervousness and anxiety.

- Circ 6: On the inside of your forearm, hold the point that is two and a half finger-widths up from the wrist crease. This point is in the middle of the forearm, not to either side. Good for nausea, anxiety and palpitations.

3. Use EFT tapping. EFT, the Emotional Freedom Technique, works for both short- and long-term anxiety relief. You can also use it to relieve the physical symtoms and pain of IBS. If you don’t know how to tap, visit Youtube and look for Instant Anxiety Relief for Irritable Bowel Syndrome.

4. Eat soluble fiber foods or take soluble fiber supplements to help with both diarrhea and constipation. Relieving these two digestive stresses will help to relieve the anxiety that comes with them.

5. Clear the chemical and chemically-scented products out of your life, and especially from your bedroom, to stop them from stressing your digestive system, your immune system and your nervous system, and keeping you awake at night. This will help to relieve physical symptoms as well as insomnia and anxiety.

6. Once you’re feeling calmer, drink some good, filtered water to get re-hydrated. Water can be calming all by itself.

7. Breathe deeply and slowly, while you walk slowly through your house, thinking calming thoughts. Your heart races when you are anxious. You can slow it down by taking a deep breath then exhaling more slowly than you inhale. Deep breathing is probably the oldest form of anxiety relief on the planet. And it’s free!

8. When your mind goes blank, breathe deeply and slowly. Now, using your fingers, gently feel your forehead moving from your eyebrows up towards your hairline. Do you feel those slight bumps that curve out about half-way up your forehead above your eyebrows? Hold those bumps with your fingertips or by placing your whole hand across your forehead, and keep breathing with long, slow exhales. Hold for at least one minute.

Holding these points will bring the blood back into the front part of your brain, which is responsible for language and analytical thinking, and will help to calm you down. This technique is especially helpful when you are in a test, exam or other stressful situation and need to be able to think more clearly.

Diet For IBS: Six Tips Every Patient Should Know

Irritable Bowel Syndrome is a disorder that is marked by symptoms like constipation and diarrhea. Adults, male and female, can have this condition. If you are one of the many IBS sufferers, you know that diet plays a role. There should be a recommended diet for IBS which varies depending on the symptoms you have.

As mentioned, IBS is a disorder that happens when some organs fail to function properly. And like other conditions, the food you eat can have an impact on how severe IBS can be.

Why? This is because Irritable Bowel Syndrome is a disorder that is related with your digestive health. Although its cause is really unknown, some say it is due to a bacterial infection in the gastrointestinal tract. Others say it is because of the immune system. However, what you should know is that this disorder is affected largely by the food you eat everyday because there are certain food that make the digestive tract to work longer and lead to pain afterwards. Fat is a very bad digestive stimulant which makes the digestive system overwork. There are many other things to remember when following the right diet for IBS. Another thing to point is that, if you are not sure about the food you will eat and if it will cause you pain or not, it is better to not eat it at all.

If you’d like to change your diet to one that is right for IBS, here are some things to remember:

1. The ones that usually cause tension in the stomach are bad for you, because they can trigger some organs not to work right. Examples of these are food rich in fat. These fatty food include cream, oil and poultry skin.

2. Eating too much fat is not only bad for your heart, but it can actually make IBS worse. Fat is one of those things that are hard to digest, and can therefore cause gas, which in turn is related with other symptoms like diarrhea and constipation.

3. Other food groups to avoid are alcohol, caffeine, red meat, dairy products and carbonated beverages.

4. Therefore, to help relieve IBS symptoms, eat more fiber every day. Fiber is present in food like bran, cereals, fruits, whole-grain breads, vegetables peas, beans and oats.

5. When buying cereals and bread, see if they are made from whole grain or whole wheat. If you are to purchase ready to eat cereals make sure that it contain at least five grams of fibers.

6. Needless to say that having adequate water intake is very important. It helps in proper digestion and healthy bowel movement.

You should keep in mind that these tips are only some of the practical steps to follow. Diet is one of the key components to watch out for if you want to relieve your Irritable Bowel Syndrome symptoms. After all, there is no known fixed cure to IBS. The treatments for IBS are actually for symptoms only. If you feel you have completely stopped them, be warned, though. They can come back after a few months and sometimes they are worse than they were. Which is why IBS is a disorder that causes a lot of people to suffer.

Diet Tips to Relieve IBS

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a digestive disorder that causes abdominal pain, gas, diarrhea, bloating, and constipation or some combination of these problems. IBS affects people of all ages, including children.

If you are suffering from an inflammatory bowel disease, your symptoms will depend largely on what you put into your stomach. Making healthy choices can help manage the disease while still making sure you get the nutrients you need.

It can be challenging to both your mind and body to change eating habits suddenly, so don’t try to do them all at once. Allow your body to adjust slowly and for lifestyle changes to become habit.

To start with, here are some general dietary guidelines:

• Drink 8 – 10 glasses of water daily.
• Supplement your diet with fish oil and flax seed oil, prebiotics such as psyllium and probiotics (live culture).
• Limit caffeine, alcohol and sorbitol (a type of sweetener).
• Limit gas-producing foods such as cabbage-family vegetables (broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower and brussels sprouts), dried peas and lentils, onions and chives, peppers and carbonated drinks.
• Avoid dairy, especially if you are lactose intolerant. You may want to use lactase enzymes and lactase pretreated foods.
• Reduce fat intake, especially if part of the intestines has been surgically removed.
• Especially during a flare-up, try small frequent meals high in protein with lean meats, fish and eggs.

Aloe Micilaginous Polysaccharides (AMP) is a molecule extracted from the inner leaf of the Aloe Vera plant and freeze-dried. That molecue AMP has been included by many individuals as one of their standard treatment options for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

Great Tips to Prevent Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Irritable bowel Syndrome can be very irritating especially when the person suffers from its symptoms such as pain, diarrhea and constipation. Since, this trouble is not considered as fatal, professionals feel that one can easily cop up with the problem.

Prevention is better than cure. It is better to act wisely and take steps to prevent irritable bowel syndrome on time. After all, living with a condition that’s painful and affects daily routine is not worth it. The worse part is that you may even have to experience some real embarrassing situation. Remember that it is a chronic disease and you may have to live with it. It can even become a life-long experience.

Here are some techniques and tips that can help you prevent the occurrence or even reoccurrence of the symptoms.

First, you need to stay away from foods that trigger off this chronic problem. Foods with high fat content are an absolute no-no. These foods are capable of interrupting in the normal functioning of the intestines. These create reduced movements of the muscles. Under these circumstances, more gas is produced as the bacteria tend to act upon the component digestion in order to accomplish the task.

Second, have a lot of fluids, mainly water. This will cleanse your system. Do not take caffeinated drinks, tea or carbonated drinks. Good amount of fluid will maintain intestinal tract. Besides, fluids also help a lot in breaking down digested foods in the lower portions of the digestive system. This makes it easier for the body to digest the food. It also facilitates in replenishing water in case, dehydration is caused due to diarrhea.

Focus on doing exercising regularly. Here, you don’t need to work out hard at gym for hours or build up a muscular body (it’s great if you can do it!) but to work out at a certain intensity regularly. Even brisk walking on a daily basis will do. This will create healthy effects on your body and also help you to regulate abnormal movements of your intestinal tract.

Another great thing to do is to learn certain techniques for stress management in order to reduce the anxiety you may face. Keep tabs on your diet on a regular basis. Eat smaller portions of food. Instead of having three large meals in a day, try to have 3-5 smaller meals in a day.

Deep breathing is really important. You should act calmly while breathing from your diaphragm. This is the muscle that separates your chest from your abdomen. When you inhale, try to allow your belly to expand. Let it contract naturally when you exhale. Deep breathing facilitates relaxing your abdominal muscles. This results in a natural bowel activity.

Relax for at least twenty minutes in a day for any activity that you find relaxing. You can indulge in reading, dancing, listening to music, playing computer games, shopping etc.

Yoga and meditation can also help a lot. Try to pamper yourself by a good massage.

Last but not the least; you should know when to contact a doctor. Go for an expert consultation as soon as you show up warning signs or find something wrong with you digestive system.

2 Beauty Exercise Tips That Help in Relieving Ibs

Beauty tips are normally meant to enhance either your well-being or looks, so coming across some beauty tips that have helped me manage my IBS turned out to be a pleasant surprise.

The good thing about these tips is that they don’t require much effort on your part, and can be carried out in the privacy of your own home. The best part about the tips is that they aren’t gender-biased, so both sexes can enjoy the benefits and relief that come from them.

Conduct these tips on a regular basis and you will find, as I have, some relief from IBS.

Tip #1

Take a warm bath, at least once a day. In some Eastern cultures, it is normal practice to bathe in cold water, for it is believed that cold water invigorates and increases the blood circulation in one’s body. I have found that warm water has its own benefits as well.

Stand under a warm shower for at least 3 minutes when you first get into the shower. Make sure that you direct most of the hot water to your stomach area. You may find yourself burping and feeling as if you need to get the gas that is building up in your body out.

If need be, gently pat your tummy area to help get the gas out. You may need to turn the shower off to do that. Once you feel that you have managed to get rid of the bloated feeling, you can continue with the rest of your shower.

For maximum impact, I normally repeat the process the last three minutes of the shower again.

When you take your shower is also important. I normally take a shower before I have my meal. Some Eastern cultures believe that if you take a shower immediately after a meal, gas tends to build up in your stomach. People who are IBS prone should take showers at least one hour after a meal, and ideally showers should be taken before and not after a meal.

This tip has also helped me when I find myself bloated and in need of immediate relief.

Tip #2

Give your tummy a gentle massage before you go to bed. Lie down and gently massage your tummy in a circular clock-wise direction using aromatherapy oils. Massage for about 2-3 minutes, and then remain lying down, taking several deep and slow breaths. Then sit up and gently pat your tummy. You will find yourself burping. Allow the release of gas, and continue to gently pat your stomach.

This tip has also helped me when I feel bloated and need immediate relief. It is also believed that massaging your tummy in a clock-wise direction aids in bowel movement.

Make sure that you do not massage your tummy if you have just had a meal.

Carry out the two tips mentioned here on a daily basis, and you will find that the gas that builds up in your tummy will be released, offering you some relief from IBS.

Causes And Treatment Tips Of IBS

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is a condition that many people suffer from when their colon is irritable or spastic. IBS symptoms include constipation, diarrhea, stomach pain, gas or cramping. Several names for these common disorders have appeared over the years. These include nervous indigestion, functional dyspepsia, irritable colon, spastic colon, colitis, functional bowel disease, and mucous colitis.

Causes Of IBS

Three main factors are significant in the pathogenesis of IBS. (1) Colonic motor activity is abnormally high in patients with colonic pain, particularly after meals or emotional stress. (2) Psychological stress — Many with IBS exhibit symptoms of colonic imbalance at times of stress. It’s commonly associated with a nervous disorder and anxiety. (3) Diet — IBS has been linked to food allergies. Therefore, a food sensitivity test may be helpful. Foods which are reported to provoke IBS symptoms include wheat, dairy, caffeinated anything, citrus fruits, and alcohol.

Generally, there is increasing evidence that supports the view that IBS is a disorder of brain-gut function. The brain’s ability to control motor activities of the intestines/gut is impaired. There is an imbalance between the stomach, intestines, brain functionality, and autonomic nervous systems.

Nerves control how the muscles move in the large intestine. Normally, a singal is sent from the nerves to the intestinal muscles when food enters the intestine. The nerves come from the brain to nerves in the intestine. They give the signal to the muscles to move the food furture down the GI tract.

Unfortunately, though, if you are stressed, anxious or depressed your nerves may work abnormally. They fail to work properly and may send unnecessary signals which will cause diarrhea. If the nerves just don’t send a signal at all, then constipation may occur. Any signal change will cause changes in your digestive system.

Your environment can also trigger the nerves to malfunction. Some environmental factors that can trigger IBS symptoms include changes in diet, smoking and traveling. Stress is a major trigger of IBS symptoms, too. It’s important that you learn to deal with the demands of your life so that your digestive system will work correctly and you will not have symptoms.

Reducing Your Stress Levels

Behavioral therapy is one way that you can help to reduce your stress level. This therapy gives you tools to change the way you respond to situations so that you will not become anxious or stressed. This therapy can make a big difference in the severity and frequency of your IBS symptoms. Adding calming influences to your life is another way to reduce your stress. Medication is a calming influence and may be needed to help you with your stress.

The gut is very sensitive to stress and can exacerbate IBS. You will find that decreasing your stress level will have a great impact on your IBS symptoms. Relaxation techniques and IBS Drops-Rx assist in dealing with stress and settle an irritable bowel.

Changing Dietary Habits

Not all IBS patients are alike and not everyone shares the same symptoms. No single diet can possibly be applicable to everyone with IBS. Constitutions vary. Some respond to an increase in fiber while others benefit from exclusion of dairy. It is often recommended to follow a simple bland diet and avoid raw fruits and vegetables, whole cereals, sugar, fried or fatty foods and red meat.

Learning and determining what works for you is the key to controlling your IBS symptoms. Your doctor should talk to you about dietary changes that you need to make. Keeping record of the foods that you eat and the symptoms you experience can help your doctor to determine what kinds of foods that you eat and what foods may be triggering your IBS symptoms.

Symptomatic Treatment

The first property we apply to treat IBS is the levels of influence a select few medicinal plants exhibit against irritable bowel syndrome. This refers to their level of antispasmodic activity against IBS and their immediacy of effect. Devoid of negative side effects when used per directions, IBS DropsRx is composed of medicinal plant extracts exhibiting the highest pharmacological effect against IBS while delivering an immediate therapeutic effect.
